Antawn Jamison injured

If you saw the Wizards' preseason game last night or saw an update on one of many news services, you know Antawn Jamison suffered an awkward-looking knee injury last night. He was playing some defense, but his knee didn't move with him as he tried to cutoff a baseline dribble-drive, and he went down clutching his knee. Didn't look like fun.

Team officials are calling it a knee strain, and he had an x-ray today that showed no structural damage. Chaos averted. No timetable has been set for his return, but he'll take it easy and get ready for the start of the NBA season.

On a worse note, it looks as though Brendan Haywood will miss a large chunk of the year after injuring his wrist. He'll require surgery, and Etan Thomas/Andre Blatche will receive increased minutes. Stay tuned for an update today after Haywood sees a hand specialist.

10/9 Update: Jamison was diagnosed with a knee contusion, an injury that has been known to keep players out for up to two months. Jamison, however, said he'll be ready for the regular season. Drop him down in your rankings, but keep tabs on this situation... he could surprise us and end up being ready!

And while you're at it, check out Brian Lucero's first article of the preseason!
